Doctors

Lawrence F. Steinberg, DVM - Dr. Steinberg received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in 1975 and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia in 1979. He opened Bayside Animal Medical Center in February of 1996 and, through the hard work of a dedicated staff, has seen the practice flourish into one of the premier animal care facilities in the area. Dr. Steinberg and his wife, Donna, currently reside in Millersville with their two daughters. Their pets include two cats, Chloe and Tucker.

Alexandra F. Bray, VMD, CVA - Dr. Bray received her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 1991 and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. Dr. Bray also studied acupuncture and herbal medicine at the Chi Institute, a leader in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in the United States, and received her designation as a Certified Veterinary Accupuncturist. In 2008, Dr. Bray joined Dr. Steinberg as a partner at Bayside Animal Medical Center. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Greater Baltimore Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Bray resides in Severna Park with her husband, Jim, and their son and two daughters. They share their home with Lilly, a Pug, and their cat Udi.

Sondra Oliver, DVM - Dr. Oliver graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She received a vet school award for compassion with homeless animals and care for gastrointestinal diseases. Dr. Oliver received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Louisiana State University in 1985 and a degree in Pharmacology from Xavier University in 1987. She was previously employed at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center, working with cancer patients, before getting her veterinary degree. She currently lives in Baltimore with her husband, Charlie MacVicar and their eight cats, Georgie, Pris, Tabby Cat Joe, Cody, Casey, Sleeky, Nubbin and Sully, two Border Collies, Matty and Jezebel, and a Black Lab, Wiggins.

Karen Pierpont, DVM - Dr. Pierpont received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Philippines in 1984 and completed her University of Pennsylvania Internship in 1985. She is a member of the Maryland Veterinary Association. Dr. Pierpont resides in Finksburg with her husband, Earle Flick, DVM , and their three dogs, Jackson, a Husky, Denali, a Schnauzer, Queenie, a Beagle, five cats, and two cows.

Kathryn Buchanan, VMD - Dr. Buchanan received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She has a special interest in and love of exotic animals, and spent a month externing at the Los Angeles Zoo. Dr. Buchanan is a native to the DC metropolitan area having grown up in Fairfax Virginia. She earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from the College of William & Mary in 2006. She currently lives in Annapolis with her husband Chris, their Golden Retriever, Satchmo and their Shepherd mix, Penny.

Christy L. Shoup, DVM - Dr. Shoup received her Bachelor of Science degree from Moravian College in 1996 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University in 2001. Dr. Shoup completed an internship at SouthPaws Veterinary Referral Center in Fairfax, Virginia in 2002. She helped to open the Emergency Animal Hospital in Ellicott City before moving to private practice in late 2003. Dr. Shoup is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association and Maryland Veterinary Medical Association. She also volunteers with several parrot rescue organizations, Fidos for Freedom, a therapy dog organization, and the Howard County Animal Welfare Society. Dr. Shoup resides in Laurel with Hayley, a Dalmatian mix; two cats, Van and ZB; six parrots, Mango, Grendel, Adam, Beaker, Bubbles and Squeak; and Luke, a Viper Gecko.
Technicians

Jessica Bates, Head Surgery Technician - Jessica joined Bayside in 2005. She attended Community College of Baltimore County where she played soccer, and then attended Anne Arundel Community College to complete a veterinary assistant course. She and her family currently reside in Church Hill with their four dogs, Sable, a Pit Bull, Roxie, an American Bulldog, Jackson, a Golden Retriever; and Bernard, a mix breed, five cats, Aspen, Reese, Whitman, Luke and Wilson; two goats, Mollie and Dolly; and two pot-bellied pigs, Sydney and Sam.

Casey Gover, Patient Care Coordinator - Casey joined Bayside in 2011. She has been a veterinary technician since 2000 and enjoys assisting with dentals, surgery, dog behavior, and client education. Casey is currently in school to become a registered technician. In her spare time, she is also becoming a certified dog trainer. Casey lives in Glen Burnie with her boyfriend, Bob, a mixed breed dog, Darby, and a cat, Melba.

Sandy Magistrelli - Sandy has been with Bayside since 2000. She enjoys all aspects of animal care with special interest in nutritional and holistic medicine for pets and their people. Sandy resides in Pasadena with her husband and two dogs, Myrtle May and Bobby Sue.

Stephanie Salamone - Stephanie joined Bayside in 2011. She has been in the veterinary field since 2003 and volunteered at the SPCA as a teenager growing up in Maryland. Stephanie enjoys all aspects of animal care, particularly assisting with surgery, dentals, and holistic medicine. She lives with her husband, John, and her three children Wesley, Landon, and Cecilia. They have a Jack Russell, Johnny, a Shih Tzu, Benji, a mini-Schnauzer, Max, and a bunny, Clover.

Brittany Collier - Brittany joined Bayside in 2011 as a new veterinary technician. She is currently attending Anne Arundel Community College where she is studying radiology. She resides in Glen Burnie with her two cats, Peanut and Greyson, and her rat, Remi.

Kayla Zinn - Kayla joined Bayside in 2011 and has been around animals her whole life. She is currently enrolled at Anne Arundel Community College and is focused on a pre-vet curriculum. Kayla lives in Arnold with her dog Rocky, a Coonhound mix-breed.
Groomers

Laura Wizbicki - Laura rejoined our team in 2008. She has been working with animals for years and has a loyal following from her grooming practice. She brings years of clinic management, technician, and grooming experience. Laura lives in Severn with her husband Steve and her brood of Chihuahuas. In her spare time she enjoys riding her Harley with her Chihuahua, Rebel. We are glad to have her back.
Receptionists

Dawn Sunstrom, Veterinary Receptionist Supervisor - Dawn has been a Veterinary Receptionist since 1990. She joined Bayside staff in 2001 and enjoys working everyday with the clients and their pets. She and her family currently reside in Pasadena. Their household pets include Mason, Isabella-smella, Salsalita Lucille, Magoo, and Gracie.

Crystal Webb - Crystal has been with Bayside since 2002. She currently resides in Dundalk with her husband and their four dogs, Champ, Abby, and Ivy, all Boxers, Chester, a Chocolate Lab, and two birds, Daisy and Squiggie. Crystal also works full-time for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. She enjoys spending time with with her husband, friends, and pets.

Ashley Carroll - Ashley has been a veterinary receptionist since 2004. She has an Associate's Degree from AACC in general studies with a focus in human service, and a bachelor's degree from McDaniel College in social work. She resides in Anne Arundel County with her dog, Hunter, a Golden Retriever mix, and her hamster, Sweety.

Becky Zavorka - Becky has been working part-time at Bayside since 2007. Becky lives in Linthicum with her two dogs, Chico, a Chihuahua, and Stella, a Puggle.

Christen Clodfelter - Christen joined Bayside in 2009 as a receptionist. She has worked in the animal care field for over three years. Christen resides in Pasadena with her five pugs, Otis, Gus, Mary, Katie, and Annabel. She breeds pugs and participates in "pug meets" regularly as part of the "pugnation".

Shawna Stepp - Shawna joined Bayside in early 2011 and currently resides in Glen Burnie with her Cairn Terrier, Duffy. She enjoys spending time with all types of animals and hopes to be a surgery technician one day.

Brittany Perry - Brittany joined Bayside in 2012. She is currently enrolled in Anne Arundel Community College where she is focusing on a pre-veterinary program of study. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and horse-back riding. Brittany and her family reside in Pasadena with their Beagle, Bullet, and their cat, Binx.
